Freediving Level 4
in the dark

This course will expose students to deep apnea safety techniques, knowledge and procedures beyond recreational apnea. New techniques include FRC diving, equalization and mouth filling. Skills develop within these categories of freediving: static apnea, dynamic apnea, constant weight freediving and variable weight. In addition to water skills, this course introduces full body warm-ups and stretches, specific respiratory muscle stretching, training concepts and nutrition that will benefit the freediver and help shape their development as a diver. You will also be familiar with packing and reverse packing, primarily as part of the vital skills taught within dry courses.

One of the purposes of this course is to prepare suitable candidates for the role of “Assistant Instructor”. This new role involves conducting an appropriate warm-up session for open and confined water apnea and supervising students of all levels during confined water or open water sessions.

The AIDA 4**** course is also called the Master Freediver course. Anyone who successfully completes this level will also be awarded the title of Assistant Instructor. You will then be able to...

  • To dive at least 32m deep in a confident manner in Constant Weight.

  • Hold your breath at rest (static) for at least 3:30 minutes.

  • A distance of 70m can be easily covered.

  • To conduct variable weight dives.

  • To apply deep rescue techniques.

  • To carry out physical and mental diving preparation independently and

  • To manage the buoy and safety rope independently.
